Parking, Silver Spring, 2012
Andrew Benson (b. 1967, Washington, DC) is a photographer based in Silver Spring, Maryland. He studied art at Frostburg State University and the Maryland College of Art & Design, graduating with honors in painting and sculpture. His photographs are a geographic survey of the social landscape—a deadpan exploration of the mundane, exceptional and often times absurd compositions found in everyday life. They function not as pure documentary, more so a figurative reconstruction of existing space.
